AIDA v0.6.2 — images, context menus, bias detection… and a smoother everyday UX

Spread the love

If you don’t know what AIDA is yet, start here: https://blog.enree.co/2025/08/building-aida-ai-do-anything-a-browser-ai-extension-born-from-testing-gpt%e2%80%915

TL;DR

AIDA (AI: Do Anything!) is a browser extension that democratizes GenAI for non‑technical folks with simple, in‑browser actions. Bring your preferred model (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini); keys stay local.

v0.6.2 turns AIDA into a multi‑modal toolkit: image analysis via vision models, right‑click actions for text and images, sentiment & bias detection, better processing UX.

So… what’s new in AIDA?

I keep adding features that match how I actually browse and work. Yes, it’s not “the best AI extension ever” (yet 😄), but the goal is clear: make powerful AI actions one right‑click away.

New in v0.6.2

  • Image Analysis (Vision)
Right‑click any image → Analyze with AIDA → get AI‑powered insights. Ask follow‑up questions too. Works across OpenAI / Gemini / Claude vision models.
  • Text Selection Summarization
Highlight a passage → Summarize with AIDA. You can now summarize the whole page or just a fragment.
  • Sentiment & Bias Detection
On any selected text, run a quick tone & bias check to understand stance and potential framing.
  • Real‑time processing & cancellation
Jobs run in the background with live status; cancel long tasks when needed.
  • Security — added contextMenus permission; moved away from <all_urls> toward granular host permissions.

A quick story (real usage)

The other day I used Ask Anything to draft a LinkedIn comment on a post I was following. Sure, I could have copied content into any chat, but having AIDA ready in the browser—with page context and two clicks—made it instant. That’s the point: reduce friction so good ideas ship faster.

How to use the new actions

Summarize a fragment

  1. Select any text → Right‑click → Summarize with AIDA
  2. Track in Processing, open the result in Results

Analyze an image

  1. Right‑click image → Analyze with AIDA
  2. Ask follow‑ups like “What’s unusual in this chart?”

Check sentiment & bias

  1. Select text → Right‑click → Sentiment & Bias
  2. Read tone, polarity, and potential bias cues

Free Chat

  1. Open AIDA → Free Chat
  2. Chat about anything; history is saved

Why this matters

GenAI becomes truly useful when it’s right where you work—the browser. AIDA aims to make advanced AI accessible to everyone, not just developers.

What’s next

Context supercharges GenAI. I’m experimenting with a local knowledge base (embeddings) so AIDA can adapt to your voice and materials (e.g., crafting a LinkedIn reply that mirrors your style). For now I’m exploring OpenAI and Google embeddings (Anthropic doesn’t expose embeddings yet). It’s not trivial, but Cursor and ChatGPT are helping me push the prototype forward—hopefully something the community can build on soon.

Think how this can enhance the ability to answer to LinkedIn in the previous use case!

Try it

Pick a provider in Settings (OpenAI / Claude / Gemini), paste your key, and you’re set. Gemini’s free tier is a great way to start.
Got ideas or requests? Drop them in the comments—I’m building this in the open.
